It’s been some time since I’ve taught a low beginning level. When I was told I’d be teaching a low level reading class, I wondered where to begin. The book assigned was WOW! Stories from Real Life. This book has been wonderful to use. The helpful Notes to the Teacher in the back of the book has given me a variety of ways to present the readings. Student response has been receptive and confirms the validity of the approach and the readings themselves. It’s been a pleasure to use this book and watch the students realize their progress. Zero Prep for Beginners by the same authors offers further ideas and activities for teaching beginning reading and works well in conjunction with WOW!
