Spotlight on Two-Word Verb Idioms provides an active stage for improving your students’ use of two-word verbs as well as improving their listening and speaking skills. Each of the nine lessons opens with a two-page illustration for pre-listening preparation, followed by a recorded skit (on the accompanying audio component) with topics ranging from family relationships to old age. After listening to and/or reading the skit, students answer comprehension questions and complete a smorgasbord of exercises focusing on grammar, reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The skits are fun for performing as well! Every third lesson is a review lesson, featuring a role play or game. Contents include:
Inseparable Two-Word Verbs (do without, depend on, look at)
No-Object Two-Word Verbs (give up, show up, come by)
Separable Two-Word Verbs (call off, think over, give back)
Three-Word Verbs (catch up with, stand up for)
The audio program offers two CDs featuring recordings of every dialogue, or Digital Audio Downloads. The recordings are professionally done using various voices, all in American English. Available upon request, a free answer key will help you grade activities much quickly and accurately.
